Educational Scholarship Program
MISSION: LCM's Educational Scholarship program partners with students to help them achieve their educational goals in order for them to earn a sufficient wage to support their family. LCM's scholarship students all exhibit a strong desire to achieve a specific educational goal/career, have no current drug or alcohol abuse, are a low-income family according to the National Poverty Guidelines, and have received a H.S. Diploma/GED or are in the process of acquiring a GED.
It is not uncommon for men and women in their 20's, 30's and 40's with a family to support, to find themselves in a situation where they have a minimum wage job and no way to a get a trade or education (even with free or discounted tuition). Several hindrances may occur, including child care, transportation, school supplies, tuition and tutoring.
We are very excited that God has provided resources to approach this area of education in depth. LCM's scholarship program wants to help make sure tuition is paid for and help to provide for those hindrances that may keep someone from taking action towards their education. We partner with other agencies to maximize available funds.

SCHOLARSHIP FAQ's:
1. How are students accepted into the program?
Answer: Every completed application is reviewed and voted upon by the LCM Board of Directors. Only students who demonstrate the motivation and commitment necessary to achieve their educational goals are accepted into the program.
2. How was the Educational Scholarship Program funded initially and what are the plans to ensure its continued funding?
Answer: Initial funding was raised at a golf tournament benefitting LCM that was held in May 2006. From the fundraiser and investments from individuals, the fund was established with an initial balance of $50,000. The success of the program has depleted the fund to approximately $15,000. In the hopes of continuing the program, LCM is seeking new funding sources from grants, local businesses, and individuals that desire to build into the lives of the LCM scholarship recipients.
3. What makes LCM’s scholarship program different from other scholarship programs that exist?
Answer: LCM desires to walk step-by-step with the students in their educational journey. LCM has established the program to include one-on-one mentorship with each student. The mentor regularly meets with the recipient, prays with them, and encourages them in their studies and in their faith.
4. How are payments made to/for the students?
Answer: LCM does not approve a student for a “lump sum” amount, rather it reviews the individual needs of the students and makes a decision about how LCM can best support the educational goals of each student. Through one-on-one meetings, students changing needs are regularly evaluated and a discussed.
